Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share a virtual kitchen table with other readers of Daily Kos who aren’t throwing pies at one another. Drop by to talk about music, your weather, your garden, or what you cooked for supper…. Newcomers may notice that many who post in this series already know one another to some degree, but we welcome guests at our kitchen table and hope to make some new friends as well.
I have been running behind today as yesterday was pretty much lost at the emergency vet. I’m afraid we have another kitty in hospice, our 17 year old, Goldie. It’s just a matter of time now.
But while we have been losing feline members of our household, so many others are losing their human family members to this pandemic. There is great danger this winter, especially with the holidays approaching and people wanting to gather indoors. Especially with so many people not wearing masks. Dr. Esther Choo:
There are worries about the availability of enough hospital beds, equipment, and so on — but also the availability of medical personnel. Because doctors and nurses who are treating COVID-19 patients are putting themselves in harm’s way, too. They are not so easy to replace if they sicken, or heaven forbid, die.
The above is a very long thread with many, many people in the medical profession weighing in. It’s enlightening. Eye opening. Should have people reaching for masks!
This is what gives me hope — an incoming administration that has its act together and which will hit the ground running.
Help is on the way...January 20, 2021.
The weekend begins now. Come in, we can safely gather in a virtual space. Please share your day, your weekend plans, your menus! This is an open thread.
