A THANKSGIVING PRAYER
‘A Thanksgiving Prayer’ was written in 1986. It’s not woke. Not PC. Context is important but somehow I don’t think Burroughs would have cared one way or another. From Dead City Radio.

William S. Burroughs ‘A Thanksgiving Prayer’ (1990)
.
Material provides the dub/world music fusion while Burroughs reads from his book ‘The Western Lands’ (1987). Hypnotic, spacey, dubbed out. From the 1999 reissue of Material’s Seven Souls.

BONUS: Superchunk ‘In Between Days’ (2010) (the Cure cover)
From Chicago’s A.V. Club long running series, A.V. Undercover where readers vote on 25 songs to include in the series then 25 bands are invited to select one song from the list to cover. All videos are filmed in a small room at A.V. Club HQ in Chicago. Afterwards the band signs the wall & adds a mention of which song they covered. Good songs, good covers, good times (h/t The Octopus in the Another Saturday Night — One Hit Wonders thread)
Here are Chapel Hill, NC indie rock legends Superchunk performing the Cure’s ‘In Between Days’.
X-RAY SPECS! SEA MONKEYS! NUCLEAR SUBS!
A fun video exploring the advertisements found in vintage comic books. I remember seeing many of these when I was a kid though I don’t recall my family ever buying any of this junk.
I’m sure these products helped many kids learn the lessons — “If it seems too good to be true it probably is” and “You get what you pay for”.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
