Oh, For Fuck’s Sake.
Trump sends out an explicit threat to the african-american protestors.
You don’t stop the tweet, but flag it for potential violence.
Trump then threatens your company with revocation of Section 230.
Pant! Pant! Pant! Clutch Pearls! What shall we do? What can our incredibly rich, multi-million dollar company do to protect itself?
How about you engage your rights, as the owner of the platform, to simply TURN. OFF. HIS. ACCOUNT.
You see, you’ve made millions from him. MILLIONS. And, what did you give him in exchange? You gave him a bullhorn. A bully pulpit. A direct line to all his followers and a way to engage in free advertising round the world. And now? Now you want us to help protect you from the mean, meanie President?
Hah.
Go one, Twitter. Shut down his account. Say “no more” and then let him stew, trying desperately to figure out how to contact the word. Stop profiting from his channel. Otherwise….well, otherwise, you are complicit in helping him spread his gospel of hate, and you’ll keep kneeling before him.
Show some guts. Cut off his twitter feed. Kick his soapbox away. Get rid of the bull horn. Right now, you are the loudspeaker company that broadcasts his message of hate, and he’s just given a speech about how loudspeaker manufacturers should be liable if they criticize the speaker.
Go on, Twitter. Either do something real, or admit you are just on the payroll. Time to choose sides, boys, time to choose sides.
