I’m so proud of the support the community is giving the protesters and displaced community members in Minneapolis. For sure, there are people taking advantage of the chaos for their own selfish gain, but time after time the actions of the people that care make a big difference in the community.
As Fred Rogers said
“My mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ To this day, especially in times of disaster, I remember my mother’s words, and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers — so many caring people in this world.”
While reading about CBP deploying Predator drones over the city I saw this article:
Minneapolis Bus Drivers Refuse to Transport George Floyd Protesters to Jail
In solidarity with protestors, union bus drivers in Minneapolis signed a petition and refused to transport police officers and arrested protestors to jail on Thursday. At one bus garage in downtown Minneapolis on Thursday evening, some workers refused to drive buses that were being dispatched to transport police officers.
There’s power in a union.
Even with everything else bad happening around us, there is hope.
