The Johnson & Johnson company has a vaccine that is likely to be approved soon. They expect to be able to produce 100 million doses for the US by the end of June. One shot seems to produce good immunity although a second booster shot may be helpful.
Moderna and Pfizer vaccines have been approved but they both require two shots taken 3-4 weeks apart. The maximum immunity develops about two weeks after the second shot. Some immunity occurs two to three weeks after the first shot, but there is still a significant risk of infection at that time.
Moderna also provided a positive update on its vaccine supply on Tuesday, saying that it is on track for its target of 100 million doses for the U.S. by the end of March, and 200 million by the end of June.
Pfizer has also committed to 170 million doses for the U.S. by the end of June.

The US has a population of about 330 million. The Biden administration has announced a new goal of administering 150 million doses of Covid vaccine in the first 100 days. Administration of 150 million doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine will provide full protection for 75 million people. This means that about ¼ of the population will have had their vaccines.
People who have recovered from Covid will have some natural protection for a while. More than 25 million people have been diagnosed with Covid. It is not clear if people with mild or asymptomatic Covid all develop good immunity. People who recover after noticeable symptoms probably get some immunity although it is not clear how long it lasts. Currently there are more than 30 million people who may have some immunity as a result of Covid infections although it is not clear how good their immunity is or how long it will last.
Masks and distancing will remain essential through the spring and summer, but hopefully things will be a lot better by the fall.
