I know. Sun comes up in the East newsflash, but South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem put on feigned “pain of sorrow” show on CNN today with regards to the plight of that 10 year old Ohio girl who is carrying her rapists child. Interviewer Dana Bash (a Republican from what I can tell from previous observations) was not very helpful in getting Noem to own her extremist position on abortion. In fact, Bash had few if any follow ups, so she allowed Noem to get away with her BS about “walking along side mothers.”
Here’s the interview:

It seems that CBS’s “Face the Nation” did a better job, and here is the money quote:
Washington — South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem on Sunday defended her state's abortion trigger law that took effect after the Supreme Court's decision to strip away the constitutional right to an abortion. She said in an interview with "Face the Nation" that in the cases of rape or incest, she does not believe one tragedy is "a reason to have another tragedy occur."
"I believe every life is precious ... And we know so much more using technology and science than we did even 10, 15 years ago about what these babies go through the pain that they feel in the womb, and will continue to make sure that those lives are protected," Noem said. "And I just have never believed that having a tragedy or tragic situation happened to someone is a reason to have another tragedy occur."
This was the same shit that Noem was peddling to Bash. She’s supposedly NOT OK with a 10 year being pregnant, but she would still force the girl to have the rapist’s child. It is because it would be making another “tragedy.”
This is hideous.
If you watch the CNN interview, Noem just walks all over Dana Bash and filibusters. And Bash lets her get away with it.
- Much of what Noem said about helping women with thier pregancies was BS because she is against expanding Medicaid because of “able bodied people who won’t work” would be elligible.
- All the other things she claimed she would do for women was to be “discussed” with the state legislature. In politicalese this means, “We are not going to do anything but talk.
- Noem claims she doesn’t want a nationwide abortion ban, but she’s a Republican. Therefore, she wants a nationwide abortion ban. Also, if you follow her “logic,” she should be pushing for a nationwide abortion ban because all life is “precious.”
- Noem doesn’t believe that Trump had anything to do with the Jan 6th insurrection, and she went out of her to attack Cassidy Hutchinson while Bash just sat their meekly.
Noem has been compared to Sarah Palin, but I think she is more disciplined than Palin. She stuck to her lies and just ran over the likes of Bash. But Noem is just as repugnant as Palin in that both are political extremists who debase democracy.
