And now we wait to see what if any response Israel has to this attack.
IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari says Israel will respond to the Iranian missile attack on the country.
“We are on heightened alert on defense and offensive, we will protect the citizens of Israel. This [missile] fire will have consequences. We have plans, and we will act in the time and place that we choose,” he says.

Iran:
Iran’s Fars news agency is reporting that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said the missile attack under way on Israel is in response to the killing of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah last week as well as that of the Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh earlier this year.
“In response to the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh, Hassan Nasrallah and (IRGC Guards commander) Nilforoshan, we targeted the heart of the occupied territories,” the IRGC said in a statement.
Second round expected:
According to Sky News Arabia
- A second round of Iranian missiles is on the way
- Israeli military says 10M civilians were targeted by the missiles
- Israeli finance minister says Iran will regret this moment as it regretted Gaza, Hezbollah, and the state of Lebanon
- Heavy gunfire continues in Beirut
Just in:
Flares and missiles are being seen in the Tel Aviv sky right now.
There is no confirmation yet on where these missiles are coming from but as we’ve been reporting, the Israeli military, in the last few minutes, said that missiles from Iran were launched. There has been no confirmation from Iran on the attacks.
Jordan:
In Jordan’s capital, Amman, the night sky lit up as what appeared to be missiles streaked across it.
People gathered outside to watch as an air raid alert came over the loudspeakers.
There were several thuds and explosions in the distance. This was followed by some flashes of light.

I really hope this is the case:
Sky News Arabia is out with a report that Iran informed “international parties” of the scale and timing of its anticipated attack on Israel, citing a US Department of Defense official.
Well that pretty much confirms that this is all theatre.

Latest:
The IDF Home Front Command issues new instructions to residents of the central area of Israel, known as Gush Dan, warning them to remain “nearby” a bomb shelter or other protected area until further notice, following reports of an imminent Iranian attack.
The update warns residents to “avoid spending unnecessary time outdoors,” and reiterates that if sirens sound, citizens should enter a protected area and remain there for 10 minutes.

Update — Adding this up top:
The New York Times quotes three Israeli officials saying the anticipated Iranian attack will include drones and missiles, as well as a US official anticipating ballistic missiles. It says the attack is expected “in the coming hours.”
When Iran attacked Israel in April, ballistic missiles were calculated to take 12 minutes to reach Israel from Iran, cruise missiles to take two hours, and drones some nine hours to reach their target.
The three Israeli officials quoted anonymously by the Times said that Iran would likely target three military air bases, and “an intelligence headquarters north of Tel Aviv” which it said has been evacuated.
While all-out war was averted in April, the Times cites diplomats and experts saying full-scale war is more likely now, “with Israel expected to strike back hard after any new Iranian attack.”
Anyone have a NYT subscription that can go see what else is being reported there? If so please drop a comment.

This just popped up on CNN:
A senior White House official says the US believes Iran is preparing to “imminently launch a ballistic missile attack against Israel.”
“The United States has indications that Iran is preparing to imminently launch a ballistic missile attack against Israel,” a full statement reads.
“We are actively supporting defensive preparations to defend Israel against this attack. A direct military attack from Iran against Israel will carry severe consequences for Iran,” it continued.
And just what exactly will those severe consequences be? Will the US attack Iran in response?
Stay tuned...

Is Netanyahu prepping the Israeli public for all out war?
Amid warnings from the US that Iran is about to launch a ballistic missile attack on Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warns of “days of great challenges” ahead.
“What I ask of you is two things,” says Netanyahu. “One, to strictly obey the directives of the Home Front Command. It saves lives.”
“And second, to stand together,” he continues. “We will stand firm together in the trying days ahead. Together we will stand, together we will fight, and together we will win.”

Possible attack time?
Update 2: Ravid reports that "A senior Israeli official told me the warning about the expected Iranian attack reached Israel around noon local time. The official said Israel thinks the attack will be carried out in the next few hours. Netanyahu convened security consultations on the issue"
Update 3: A report from CNN says the US is expecting a similar-type attack to the one in April.
