The MAGAs are now screaming "LOCK HER UP" again.
Hillary Clinton again? No. Kamala Harris.
For.... what? No particular reason. Trump just wants her prosecuted.
Last week Trump called for the prosecution of those who criticize judges and Supreme Court justices, or just disagree with their decisions, like, say, overturning Roe, or giving him Immunity.
"These people should be put in jail the way they talk about our judges and our justices," he said. Even though he has had plenty of criticism about the judges in his own court cases. Even before they tried him. And their family members, too.
Then at a press conference, he called for the prosecution of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. He blamed HER for the January 6th insurrection. Because she "failed" to accept the 10,000 troops he falsely claimed he offered her to guard the Capitol.
He didn't.
And while the Speaker DOES have authority over the Capitol Police, the Speaker does NOT have jurisdiction over the National Guard or other military branches. That would have been HIS job. And he didn't do it.
No matter, he wants to prosecute HER for the insurrection, anyway.
And pardon the insurrectionists who actually attacked the Capitol.
Then Friday, he decided he wanted GOOGLE criminally prosecuted. Why? He heard a conspiracy theory that people who Googled his name got BAD press stories about him, and people who Googled Kamala Harris got GOOD press stories about her. Never mind doing an actual investigation about that, he just wanted to go straight to prosecution. He'll figure out what crime Google committed later.
Saturday, Trump said he not only plans to prosecute anyone he thinks will cheat in THIS election, he says he plans to "go back" to the 2020 election, and prosecute those he thinks cheated then, too. Even though he and his henchmen, like Rudy and the Kraken gal, brought 60 court cases against all of them, and LOST every single one. (Well, except for a minor procedural technicality on one of them.) They lost against those voting machine companies, too.
And that brings us to Sunday, and Trump ranting to his rally crowd in Pennsylvania that he plans to prosecute Kamala Harris. He didn't even HAVE to say why. His supporters didn't care. They just started chanting, “Lock her up!” while he stood there and watched them, with a satisfied smile.
The last time he occupied the Oval Office, Trump did not get very far with his threats. This time around, though, things will be very different. Under the plan put forth by Project 2025 the Department of Justice will no longer be an independent government agency, capable of even prosecuting the President of the United States, if, for instance, he colluded with an enemy country, or took and gave classified information to them, or extorted foreign countries for personal gain, or broke the law to overturn an election, or tried to incite a violent coup to stay in power.
The Department of Justice will no longer have that power, because it will not be an independent agency, but an arm of the Executive office, under direct control of the President of the United States.
Under his orders. Doing his will. Prosecuting his enemies.
Biden, and Pelosi, and Harris.
Anyone who criticizes his judges and Justices.
Anyone who criticizes his decisions.
Anyone who criticizes HIM.
Reporters.
Protestors.
Folks on social media.
Me.
You.
But why stop there? Why bother with the rule of law at all, if you have that kind of power?
Trump went on Sunday, to echo "The Purge".
He brought up his fake crime statistics again, and said that police should be allowed “one really violent day” in which they could be “extraordinarily rough” with anyone they suspect of a crime.
“One rough hour, and I mean real rough, the word will get out, and it will end immediately. End immediately,” Trump went on. “You know, it’ll end immediately.”
No it wouldn't. Not unless the threat was there for it to be done again. Any time they wanted.
And why limit it to just the police? Project 2025 expands the President's powers to declare Martial Law, and to allow the US military to make arrests and fire upon our own citizens on our own soil, something it can’t do now. The manual has language describing how military tribunals might be used for civilian matters. It talks about the formation of Detainment Camps.
You know, for BAD GUYS. For illegal aliens. For drug cartels. For criminals.
But why stop there?
Other countries have used exactly those methods to silence, remove and execute entire populations of political, religious, ethnic and "undesirable" citizens from their midst. To "cleanse" their society and make it "pure" again.
It can't happen here?
Trump stores grievances in the dark hollow place where his heart and soul should be. He does not forgive and he does not forget.
He has not forgotten the protests that swept the entire country in 2020 - the protests that forced him to hide in the White House bunker. He has never forgiven the humiliation of that.
”I am YOUR retribution,” says Trump. No, he is his OWN retribution.
Trump did not have the power as President of the United States of America to do what he wanted to do, then. He is making it clear, every day in his speeches, that he intends to have that power now.
Are you listening?
