I don’t really have a story on this, I just wanted to counter that story suggesting Tim will probably lose tonight’s debate.
A thought: If two teams were in the Little League World Series, but before they played, you learned that one of the teams would have a twenty year old pitcher, and he would be allowed to pitch. Are there circumstances under which you could consider that team the winner?
What if a person were convicted of a crime based on the testimony from someone you know to be dishonest. How would you decide if you believed that person to be guilty or innocent? Would you let Fox or CNN make that decision for you? A public poll?
Suppose your daughter has dated a dude for 6-8 years. Tonight, he’s asking you for your blessing. Of course, you’re gonna quiz him about stuff. But will your decision come down to his performance tonight, or do you pretty much already know it’s a yes or no for you?
In my books, there will not be a universal winner or loser in tonight’s debate as I understand everyone will see it their way. Vance could no-show and MAGA would still say he won. Tim could freeze of stage fright for the entire contest yet some would still declare him the winner. Only you decide who wins or loses, or even if you even think in these terms.
I did not see Harris as the victor (nor the loser) in the past debate — but only because I don’t measure a debate as such. No doubt, she slaughtered her opponent. For sure, she was the only person who touted policy and facts that were worth my consideration. If I were keeping score, I suppose she’d walloped her completely mismatched, groveling, lying, hate spewing rival. If a different DJT had shown up for the debate, and had that participant scored higher, it would not have mattered for me as I know the man for who he has proven to be.
Tonight, I hope to learn more from these candidates. And as a precursor to the event, Vance’s conduct has already stolen my trust or belief in anything he says, so there is no real opportunity for him to score points with me.
All I can say, is “Go Tim!” I already believe in you. Tonight’s debate only adds to the existing conversation.
