Note: The Deadline to contribute to Florida state legislative candidates is today at midnight.
First, thank you for your overwhelmingly generous response to my Tuesday story, Racist MSG rally may close the gap in Florida, which raised $11,500 for 140 Blue Florida. That money is helping fund the candidates who enabled Democrats to run in every FL District.
Today, I’m focusing on one of the candidates, Democrat Jackie Gross-Kellogg (here’s her ActBlue Page). Jackie has an excellent chance of beating Republican Vicki Lopez in FL HD-113, a Biden +12, Democrat +17 Florida House District in Miami-Dade County.
Lopez and her backers are running scared. That’s why they have spent more than a million dollars on flyers and TV Ads containing slanderous and vile material about Jackie, who has a fraction of the money raised by the Republican and all of her supporting PACS. They’ve falsely accused Jackie, a Jewish woman, of “undermining Israel” and praising riots. They’ve tried to tar her with vicious anti-Trans slanders.
But Lopez is now facing a huge scandal involving abusing her office for family favors— so huge that the Miami-Herald changed its endorsement from Lopez to Jackie.
And it appears that Lopez has made no public statement repudiating the disgusting slurs against Puerto Ricans at the MSG Rally. I found nothing on her Twitter Feed, and my google search turned up nothing showing any statement by Lopez about it.
When a Republican’s funding is so disproportionate, it’s important for the grassroots to step and at least partially offset the onslaught of money desperately funding vicious lies.
Here’s Jackie’s ActBlue Page.
