Update: This story did finally make CNN.
Also, the Fowlerville Theater group put out a statement that ended with this, which I think is on point, though I wish they were more direct, “As a theatre, we want to make people feel and think. We hope by presenting Anne’s story, we can help prevent the atrocities of the past from happening again.”
Lastly, the Michigan Anti-Defamation League posted on X that “We are disgusted by the far-right extremists who praised Hitler and waved Nazi flags outside of an American Legion hosting the play "The Diary of Anne Frank," and we stand with American Legion 141 and @HowellTownship who know that hate doesn't belong in their community.” (Sorry I won’t link to X).

This weekend there were Nazi demonstrators in both Howell and Fowlerville, Michigan, not too far from where I live. These demonstrations happened while the Fowlerville Community Theater performed the Diary of Anne Franke. I wish I had known about the performance and the demonstration Saturday night - I would have attended the theater performance yesterday in solidarity. I put this here because I read about this in the local news, not the national news. This is what Trump voters have sanctioned. This is the evil they knowingly have welcomed into society in the name of “safety”. I know this diary is short. My blood is boiling over. It is difficult to see past the rage and to think about what meaningful dialogue looks and feels like with someone who voted for the Hilter-loving conman.
Here is my screen shot of the photo because I refuse to link to X. Also the link to the article is below.
