Let’s try mining Bluesky for Global Warming news today. DK doesn’t support embeds with images or videos, and Bluesky doesn’t support bookmarking. So we aren’t going to get what I would call full service there, but there is plenty to start working with. There is no question that Bluesky has enough content for our needs, on all of the topics we regularly look at here.
To begin with today, I created a Global Warming list of Bluesky members who post on climate issues, and their posts that I want to save. Now I am going through my recent likes to embed some here and add their posters to the list. This is just a start, nothing like what this list well grow to as I follow more and more Blueskyers and add them to the list.
Here is the first one. The image that you can see if you click through is an artist’s rendering of a satellite in orbit scanning the Earth below. So it isn’t essential to include it here. But the link to the rest of the story is vital.

What can be done to stop this from happening more as Trump plans to open up more drilling?

But here it is anyway.
CNN: New images show where super-polluters are venting an invisible, planet-warming gas into the atmosphere
It frequently happens, however, that the captions on images in Bluesky posts are actually important parts of the content. We can usually pick them up as text by following the links in the posts.

Milestone: World’s biggest isolated grid hits new wind and solar penetration record of 85.7 pct
Western Australia’s South West Interconnected System, regarded as the biggest isolated grid in the world, hit a new penetration record for wind and solar power over the weekend, a new peak of 85.1 per cent.
China, the world's renewable energy leader and largest emitter of planet-warming greenhouse gases, is showing itself fully committed to the fight against climate change.🤨

China looks to step into global vacuum as Trump vows to pull U.S. back
At the COP climate conference, China has been presenting itself as a stable and reliable global leader, seeking to draw a contrast ahead of a second Trump era.
How long will these be ignored like it doesn't have a real impact on global oil demand?
"While electric vehicle sales increase, sales of gas-powered cars continue to decline globally. Since the peak in 2017, sales of new gas-powered cars have decreased by approximately 25 percent."

I'm a big fan of solar panels over car parks.
Keeps you dry in winter, stops car turning into an oven in summer, and provides very useful power.
Why not start with this NOW?

Sky-high power prices are fueling a solar boom in Pakistan.
The country has imported enough solar panels so far this year to raise its total power capacity by a third.

“Permitting reform that encompasses electrical transmission is vital to enable carbon-free energy sources to be used to their full capacity.
Without it, people can build all the solar, wind, nuclear or geothermal power they want, but there won’t be a way to get it to your home.” 🔌💡

All the American utilities blaming the data centre boom for their own catastrophic failure to enact their climate targets.
Doesn't matter whether the demand projections are right or wrong: big tech is still helping the worst polluters justify climate delay

We need to REQUIRE data centers to provide for new wind or solar power plus storage sufficient to meet their own needs before they can get construction permits.
