Dearest Newdists, how are you doing these days? I came back home from Chicago on Monday evening and I have to say it was such a pleasant jaunt. I so rarely do things like that, but the election showed me that my old friends and compatriots are valuable to me and I should hold on to them. So when asked, I ventured into Chicagoland. One among my friends did not vote. She was in the hospital at the time and was sure MVP Harris would win anyway. She rested on certainty that did not materialize because people are idiots! I felt bad for her. Not that her one vote would have mattered, but that she missed the chance, the opportunity, to vote for MVP Kamala Harris. And believe me, she feels it for exactly that reason too. It’s like another friend who sat home with a broken ankle, certain that Hillary would win, because who in their right mind would vote for the Orange Buffoon?… Well, we all know how that turned out. We made a pact — if a Democratic Party candidate runs, we fking turn out and find a way to get our vote IN, unless it was a serious accident and we are under anesthesia. Hence we pledged to get our votes in as soon as it was possible to get it in, because we are NOT getting younger! I was pleased to note that not a one of them is leaving the country. They are all staying and joining local orgs to form community. I love my friends so much.
I don’t know about you but I have been in a deep funk since the Election Day. I’m not on X except to create this diary, and I’m avoiding news. I am, however, reading more from my reading pile, painting and surfing craft Youtube.
