I've had the misfortune to observe narcissists in real life, and its no
fun.
Trump, constantly ticking of all the checkboxes of a narcissist test
form like the DSM-IV, is, well, ticking me off.
If narcissists kept to themselves it would be their own misfortune, and
I could afford to feel sorry for them but as it is now they infect the
society of non pathological people making the world a worse place for
everyone.
Trump's cabinet picks showcase a key aspect of this pathology,
regardless of whether they actually get selected. For a narcissist,
other people serve no purpose beyond feeding their ego. Thus, there
are no experts, no competent workers—no need for anyone but the
narcissist, no need for other people at all really.
Some examples include
Trump himself, of course. His inane ideas on tariffs demonstrate an
unfounded belief that he’s an expert on everything: economy, medicine,
negotiations, warfare, you name it.
Pete Hegseth, described by idiots as a warrior philosopher, seems to
roleplay a Teutonic Knight, and is not even ashamed.
Having done swedish military service i can attest that these overly
militarily interested people, we called them stridspittar(Combat
Dicks), where the least suitable to do the actual real complicated
work that military operations entailed.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a self appointed expert in health, seems to be
a total idiot as well. How can you not understand that vaccines is one
of the greatest advances in medicine?
The list goes on. Narcissists excel at breaking things and blaming
others while also being entertaining, leaving ordinary people to
suffer. Sadly, I understand the allure. They put on quite a show—it's
easy to get drawn in by the spectacle, charisma, and self-assuredness,
especially if you're self-doubting or weak-willed.
Anyway, thanks for reading my rant, I feel somewhat better now...
