Just like on Thanksgiving, the Grifter in Chief couldn't let Christmas pass without being the Grinch. Here's my first post to back up the factual assertions.
He just had the reauthorize his attack on Panama as the Grievance in Chief.
He still thinks 38,000 Americans died building the Canal, when it was folks from the Carribean and Central America, and it was the French attempt in the 1880s where the most died.
Next, it's the Chinese, not Panamanians, who are operating the Canal. Yes, the Chinese control ports at both ends of the Canal. That's not the Canal itself. What does "lovingly" mean? I'd say that Trump has had too much to drink, but he doesn't drink alcohol. Maybe he should.
We never had to put in billions of dollars in repair money, unless you're saying a dollar in 2024 is the same value as in 1914. I'm sure that repairs would need to be done to mantain the system, but there was never extensive repairs ever referenced in writings detailing the Canal's operation.
For an excellent discussion and interview of how things worked economically and politically, which were intertwined, look at this from the Harvard Business School.
That wasn't enough. Prior to this, he suggested in another post that hockey great Wayne Gretzky run for Prime Minister of Canada. Doesn't this amount to suggesting regime change? Justin Trudeau must be having conniption fits.
Even that wasn't enough. He had to follow it up in the Panama post that Canada should become a US state so the would have lower taxes and be militarily secure, again. Nobody wants to attack Canada, and their taxes aren't 60% higher. Canadians do have a higher tax rate if you make more than $150,000 a year, but they've got what we don't: complete health care coverage, and other free services.
Just to make the trifecta, he still wants to buy Greenland. We do have the Pittufik Space Base, which Greenland has magnanimously allowed us to have. Our "National Security" is already served.
Please get this man a new brain.
He followed up with naming Miami-Dade Commissioner Kevin Marino Cabrera as the Ambassador to the Republic of Panama. "Republic"? Trump showing some respect?
Well, no. Back to the US being ripped by transit fees on the Canal. The man's credentials are being a MAGA zombie for Trump in 2020. Considering the hornet's nest that Trump is throwing Cabrera into, I'm having trouble finding Trump's logic in the choice.
