Tillamook Air Museum, housed in World War II Navy Blimp Hanger in Tillamook, Oregon, has a collection of farm tractors. Why are there farm tractors in a museum about airplanes? At the beginning of World War II, Tillamook was selected as the site for a United States Navy blimp base. Through eminent domain, the United States acquired about 2,000 acres of land which had been used by local farmers for the grazing of milk cows. With their land purchased by the government at market value, the farmers had to auction off their dairy cattle.
