Much of the Democratic Party, myself included, has been having an anxiety attack over the past two weeks. Whether President Biden remains the nominee (as he’s clearly stated he will be) or the mantle is passed to Vice President Harris in the end after all (and let’s be real, she’s the only other viable nominee for a long list of reasons both practical and optics-wise), there’s a high risk of failure.
And unlike Presidential elections up to & including 2012, where the Republican nominee winning the White House would sting badly but not be an existential threat to the United States of America and democracy itself, Donald Trump & MAGA have made it crystal clear, via Project 2025, precisely what they intend to do to our nation if they win less than 4 months from today.
It’s horrifying across the board.
And so, with two high risk options on the table and with everything at stake, the panic is palpable and understandable. I’ve spent many days since June 27th with the exact same sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that I had the night of November 8th, 2016...except this time it’s happening 4 months before the election, and the consequences of failure would be even worse, since the guardrails which prevented Trump’s worst instincts have been mostly swept away since then.
I’ve gotten very little sleep over the past 2 weeks.
HOWEVER, here’s the thing: I have no control over who ends up as the Democratic nominee any longer. I’m not an elected official or party bigwig with influence over the President. I’m not even a DNC delegate. I’m just a guy from Michigan who voted for President Biden in the primary back in February. That was the beginning and end of any influence I have on that decision, and I’ll do absolutely everything I can to help the Democratic nominee win from now through November.
I can’t control that, so I have to focus on what I can control.
I’m not good at canvassing, phone banking or writing postcards.
What I am good at is raising money for Democrats online...for Biden/Harris, for House Dems, for Senate Dems, for statewide Dems and for state legislative Dems. Money which it will then be up to them to utilize as best as they can to help win their races.
So...that’s what I’m doing.

Are you a Biden Ride or Die loyalist pissed at a few House Dems for calling him to drop out? OK, I understand...but we still need to flip control of the chamber! Help flip the House this year ...then support primary challengers to a few of them in 2026 if you're still upset.
