CrowdStrike, a type of security software deployed by businesses worldwide caused Windows systems to crash around the world today after a software update.
The impacts affect banking, stock markets, airline travel, broadcasting, government services, and many other institutions that rely on Windows Operating systems for their servers, desktops, laptops, and cloud instances.
The good news is that you as a private user will not likely have an issue with your personal Windows devices, since CrowdStrike is only typically deployed by businesses & large entities.
The bad news is that a lot of things you may rely on may be affected today. Expect online banking, buying tickets to events, booking a flight, etc. to be chaotic. And people that work remotely may have difficulty.
Maybe a tech-free day is what we all need. It is Friday after all.
