We'll know when we know about which person Kamala Harris selects to be her Vice President.
Another left-leaning website is ‘reporting’ it’s between Governor Josh Shapiro (PA) & Senator Mark Kelly (AZ).
If it is between these two, each comes with pro & cons.
If I’m playing armchair strategist, Shapiro being Jewish likely makes Gaza a recurring campaign dialogue (I’m Jewish), and that’s part of the calculus. Governor Walz (MN) made a very positive impression, I’d have preferred him to Shapiro if we’re counting Midwest votes.
If I’m playing armchair strategist, a decorated veteran & astronaut gives Kamala both added and immediate, credibility to some of her perceived weaknesses. But he lacks ‘lefty’ bona fides that may rile some Democrats.
I’m thinking about the announcement date/timing. Media has reported Kamala is expected to campaign next week with the candidate in run-up to the Convention. Josh Shapiro observes Shabbat, so that can disrupt timing…..
I’m going with Kelly to be announced on Friday.
Regardless, we have a Convention coming up. Kamala + Anyone has appeared to have had a remarkable rise in the polls. And our Convention will showcase a wonderful field of speakers…..
Governor Whitmer, Secretary Raimondo, Governor Pritzker, Governor Cooper, Governor Walz, Governor Beshear, Secretary Buttigieg, and countless others who will show a beauty & diversity of appearances and opinions.
Said differently, unlike our opponents, we should be getting a heck of a Convention bump, no matter who Kamala believes is best suited to be her VP.
Thoughts??
