Upon learning that Vladimir Putin had released Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and others in a prisoner swap, Donald Trump flew into a rage. A short while later he made a surprise appearance on Fox and Friends, complaining that the Russian dictator had been unfaithful.
“He promised that he would wait until I was president to release any hostages. He promised, he promised!” the Republican nominee shrieked, his tiny fists waving wildly in the air.
“What a horrible sense of betrayal this must be for you, Mr. President,” Brian Kilmeade offered sympathetically.
Trump nodded slowly. “It is. And after all I’ve done for him! Think about it. I supported him in his war against Ukraine. I sided with him against our own intelligence services. I tried to dismantle NATO for him. I told everybody that he was very smart, and many, many other nice things. I even said he does good judo!”
The MAGA cult leader paused for a second, took a breath, and then sputtered, “I thought we were friends! But now I find out Vlad was talking to Biden behind my back! It’s a disgrace! Things like this should never be allowed to happen in our country.”
Trump pouted and heaved an angry sigh. “Doesn’t anyone tell the truth any more?”
