So Trump has been SO SO busy, but he did say at his rallies this weekend that the storm victims will be "OK", which no doubt will be of great comfort to the families of the over 100 fatalities.
Here he is with Georgia Representative MTG enjoying a football game while the storm was making landfall.
Sunday he posted, falsely, on Truth Social that he had received reports about “the Federal Government, and the Democrat Governor of the State, going out of their way to not help people in Republican areas.”
Trump visited Valdosta, Georgia Monday to hold a press conference in front of a furniture store that was destroyed, and "to receive a briefing on storm damage and facilitate the distribution of relief supplies," his campaign said. Valdosta is in the southern part of Georgia, near the Florida border.
At his press conference following a closed-door storm briefing with emergency response officials, Trump twice falsely claimed that Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp is unable to reach Biden to discuss storm recovery, despite the White House — and Kemp himself — confirming that the two leaders spoke last night.
Trump came to Georgia with Franklin Graham, son of the late Christian evangelist Billy Graham, who brought supplies from the charity organization Samaritan's Purse, which Graham runs.
“We have a lot of truckloads of different items, from oil to water to all sorts of equipment that’s going to help them,” Trump said.
Trump also said he just spoken to Elon Musk to discuss implementing his Starlink satellite network for people to access the internet.
Trump claimed that the storm was a surprise to everyone. "That's a big one, and the devastation wrought by this storm is incredible, it's so extensive," he said. "Nobody thought this would be happening, especially now it's so late in the season for the hurricanes."
Nobody thought that but Trump. According to NOAA's Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory, hurricane season runs from June through November.
Project 2025, though, plans to ELIMINATE NOAA during the next Trump administration. Future hurricanes, tornados, blizzards, floods, and earthquakes will then surprise EVERYONE, so Trump won't look so ignorant.
And Trump has already promised to once again withdraw America from the Paris Climate Accord, remove restrictions and timelines imposed on the auto industry, and "Drill Baby Drill". He denies that Climate Change is bringing more violent storms.
As for how FEMA will respond under HIS administration... well, he seemed hesitant to give aid during his last administration. He even told the people of California to "rake its forests", or he would not be eager to grant them National Disaster status in the future. And remember how helpful he was to Puerto Rico? And as he expresses his anger and his plans for vengeance against his political enemies, we also have to wonder how he will deal with states run by governors he "doesn't like".
MEANWHILE, Kamala Harris has cut short her campaign to return to Washington to be briefed on the hurricane response by the Federal Emergency Management Agency for ALL the affected states.
As soon as the states can make arrangements around the disruption caused by official visits, both Vice President Harris and President Biden will be there. "My first responsibility is to get all the help needed to those impacted areas," Biden said. "We have pre-planned a significant amount, even though they hadn't asked for it yet."
President Biden already had the affected areas declared National Disasters immediately, and was arranging relief while the Helene was still raging.
Harris was already briefed by FEMA on the federal response to the hurricane, and she reached out to local officials, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp.
"We are deploying food, water and generators, and working to restore state and local leaders, we will provide whatever help they need in the days and weeks ahead," Harris said Sunday.
