Daily Kos has a set of “Rules of the Road” that are sufficiently clear, fairly reasonable and easy enough to follow. Nevertheless, there are complaints from readers who want this site to have even more restrictions. Even among progressives, there is disagreement, not just in opinions but in how those opinions should be expressed. “I agree with your point, but I’m offended by one of the words you’ve used in expressing it.”
There are also some strong complaints demanding that Daily Kos prohibits certain types of images here. I find such complaints to be unreasonable. Most of my own Daily Kos diaries are basically images with only a few lines of text. And some of my best diaries simply could never have been published here on Daily Kos if I had to adhere to those sorts of demands.
And don’t forget: the complaints are actually coming from fellow DK users who agree with me!
If Daily Kos staff expands its rules to appease the easily offended, it would turn into a shallow shell of what it is now. Those of you who want Daily Kos to ban certain words, phrases and images can start your own web sites. Let Daily Kos remain exactly as it is!
