Donald Trump and Melania were ignored at times by Presidents, their wives, vice-presidents, and vice-presidents wives at Jimmy Carter's funeral.
I hope this is an indication of things to come at Trump's inauguration.
Joe Biden called Trump out while giving the eulogy by warning of the abuse of power. Finally, Biden is getting a spine. Maybe at the inauguration he'll throw a tomato at Trump, who thinks that if one hits him, it could kill him.
For instance, Al Gore and Mike Pence stood up and shook Trump's hand. Mike Pence should have used a jiu-jitsu move and thrown him over the pews, but he actually shook the hand of the man who wanted him killed. Karen Pence remained seated and looked down the whole time until Trump sat down.
Mike Pence shook Melania's hand, but Karen Pence avoided her.
George Bush avoided interacting with Trump, coasting past him to tap Obama on the belly, smiling.
Bill and Hillary Clinton exchanged greetings with Mike and Karen Pence, before sitting down next to George and Laura Bush, but they didn't even glance in Trump's directon.
Trump ally, Jack Posobiec started a conspiracy theory, claiming the reason Michelle Obama wasn't there was that the couple was "on the outs", out of the five couples of presidents and their wives that were there.
I think we know the real reason. While it was put out that Michelle was in Hawaii for an extended vacation, we all know that she hated Trump with a passion and would not have wanted to be anywhere near him at Carter's funeral.
Trump also didn't stand up to greet Obama. So, you can say that Trump started it and he just got what he asked for.
Obama was sitting right next to Trump and at times it looked like they were smiling and joking, but that wasn't enough for Steve Bannon. "No, Obama snubbed President Trump," said Bannon because Obama didn't shake Trump's hand.
He also commented on Pence's hesitation before shaking Trump's hand. "Can't commit. Looking back and forth at 'Mother.' Stand up. Give him that weak, weak handshake. Damn. You got to commit to action, Pence." Mother is the nickname Pence has for his wife Karen.
He continued. "All Bushes and Bush related people. You suck! You have no class. You're bitter people. You're Karl Rove. You're a bitter little man."
One of the more shocking moments came as viewers watched on as Trump kept talking to Obama even after the ceremony began.
"Obama looked like a guy stuck in an airplane seat next to a guy who won't shut up." SiriusXM host Dean Obeidalla posted on X.
Here's a funny remix of audio placed over the video.
When Kamala arrived, Trump kept looking at her but she wouldn't look at him at all.
A shocking moment came when the color guard came down the aisle with the casket and everyone in the cathedral put their hands over their heart. Donald Trump did not. Maybe because he doesn't have one.
Bannon again. "Trump, sitting there like Charlemagne, overshadowed them all." The truth is Trump had his eyes closed some of the time like he was asleep. Then Bannon even critiqued the funeral program. I won't bother with his comments.
"Bush walked past Trump, the man fixing the mess he created, without an ounce of humility. This is who they are, arrogant, out of touch elites." Bannon seems to forget the two Obama presidencies between them.
"So he gets big leagued by Bush...trying to humiliate him, trying to embarrass him. Trump doesn't care. He's Trump."
And, of course, the way to respond to being shown the door is to belittle your opponent. "Bush is the second worst president in the history of the country. Only James Buchanan is worse."
There is one thing that will shut up people like Bannon. That's if Trump isn't around to cause the disasters that he already has.
Trump being ostracized by those at Carter's funeral wasn't a major event, but it is in the news. This was one time Trump couldn't take center stage and make it all about him. I still can't believe Pence shook his hand. Inauguration can't come too soon for Trump. He's being sentenced today for 34 felonies, and I think the Jack Smith Jan. 6th report is coming out on Sunday.
Not a good week for Donald Trump. I wish him more of the same.
