It took them at least four decades, but the right-wing billionaires patiently bought the country. They needed help, so they set about buying most Republican politicians, who in turn helped them kill the Fairness Doctrine and pass the Telecommunications Act of 1996 allowing almost unlimited ownership of media outlets.

They then bought up almost every powerful AM radio outlet and turned Rush Limbaugh loose every day at ‘rush’ hour traffic time when people were locked in their cars, trapped into hearing his poisonous white grievances.

They had thus laid the groundwork, and in this century they shifted into high gear. The new and largely unregulated internet played conveniently into their hands.

Billionaire Putin has whole buildings full of people whose sole job is to promote disinformation and conspiracy theories on social media to destroy democracies. They turn out tens of thousands of lies EVERY DAY!

South African billionaire Musk changed twitter algorithms to promote right-wing garbage while simultaneously killing fact-checking and inviting Putin’s liars in.

Australian billionaire Murdoch’s Fox News has done more than any other single outlet to mislead the masses into a right-wing frenzy.

Simultaneously, billionaires bought up the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and the LA Times, and moved their lackeys into control of most media outlets.

The only bright side I can see is that with all this control, they only beat Kamala by a couple million votes!
