Later roles for Keaton included The Family Stone, Because I Said So, Finding Dory, Book Club (and its sequel) and Poms. She made a rare TV appearance with a starring role in HBO’s 2016 miniseries The Young Pope. Keaton also worked as a director, helming the 1987 documentary Heaven, 2000’s Hanging Up and an episode of Twin Peaks.

In 2021 Keaton starred in Justin Bieber’s music video “Ghost.” She also was a prolific Instagram user, posting updates on her life, reflections on her career and friendships and praising those she loved.

Diane Keaton’s relationship history was like a who’s who of Hollywood’s leading men throughout the years. As we mourn Keaton’s death at the age of 79, Parade.com is looking back at her dating history, including some of her high-profile relationships that received almost as much attention as her movie roles.

As one of the most talented actresses of her generation, Keaton had managed to keep working throughout the decades. Perhaps even more surprisingly, at the same time, she had managed to fascinate us with her interesting love life. So who had Diane Keaton dated over the years?

It is not known who fathered Diane Keaton’s two children as they are both adopted. Keaton adopted daughter Dexter in 1996 and son Duke in 2001. It is said Keaton adopted her children after the death of her own father when she was struck by her own mortality and the shortness of life, as well as the idea that there must be something more meaningful waiting for her in life.

Before her death, Keaton was looking forward to having grandchildren one day, as her daughter Dexter Keaton had married Jordan White in 2021. When asked if she was eagerly anticipating becoming a grandmother in an April 2022 interview, her response was, “Oh God, yeah … I can’t imagine what that will be like. It’s not really something [my daughter Dexter and her husband] are discussing right now. I’m going to love the kid, probably.”
