Donald Trump is “Unwell”
What Will JD Vance Do?
The dam is beginning to crack and Donald Trump’s mental unfitness is now so manifest and obvious…
…it is finally becoming the pressing issue it should have been a long time ago.
Representative Madeline Dean confronted Speaker Mike Johnson about it, correctly describing Trump as “unwell.” Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker called for the 25th Amendment to be used to replace him.
Don’t get me started on how if Joe Biden had said and did one-tenth of the psycho shit Trump said and did it would be wall-to-wall coverage. Fox News understood that and harped on every little thing to question Biden’s fitness. It is time for the rest of the media to do this, over and over and over again about Trump. He clearly suffers from dementia and it is rapidly getting worse.
I saw this with a close friend of mine who was also an artistic collaborator. There were little things at first, like when he forgot that he already paid me back money he owed. I really saw the mental decline when he needed surgery, which I arranged. Ten minutes after discussing it, he had completely forgotten our conversation. “Surgery, what surgery?” I’ve known him for 44 years and now he doesn’t know my name.
So it did not surprise me that Chuck Schumer stated that Trump had no idea that without the Obamacare subsidies people’s health insurance would dramatically increase, as if it were the first time he heard it.
I’m sure Trump had heard it before, but he can’t retain the information. He is going in and out of lucidity. That’s why his speeches are frequently rambling and nonsensical full of confabulation, the mixing up of facts and truth, reality and fantasy. Combine this with the fact that Trump is a sociopath, a malignant narcissist - it is frightening and dangerous for such a man to be holding the nuclear codes.
It addition to being mentally “unwell”, it is obvious that Trump is in rapid physical decline. Several doctors I know think that Trump has suffered a series of mini-strokes, which also affect his mental state. His swollen ankles, the bruising on the hands, dragging his leg when he walks and his obvious fatigue are clear signs of Trump’s serious health issues. The fact that he can speak for over an hour isn’t a sign of strength, but more likely because of the stimulants like Adderall that he has relied on all these years. And these long speeches are, for want of a simple phrase, fucking nuts.
Donald Trump is one major health event from being incapacitated, which leaves us with JD Vance. It is hard to anticipate what exactly Vance will do when he becomes President.
I have some questions for the DailyKos community because I think it likely that given the decline in Trump’s mental and physical health that this is likely to happen sooner than later. I think it’s important to think about these things to try to anticipate what is in front of us.
IF JD VANCE BECOMES PRESIDENT:
What policies that Trump is now pursuing will Vance continue?
What policies will he abandon? For instance, do you think he will stop the tariffs?
Will he continue to send troops into U.S. cities?
Will he continue the aggressive immigration policies and ICE raids?
Will he fire some of the idiots in Trump’s cabinet, like Pete Hegseth?
Will Republican Senators and Representative be afraid to push back on Vance as they are with Trump, or will they show some spine?
Will Vance be able to hold together the MAGA coalition?
Will Vance be more or less assertive in pursuing Trump’s authoritarian agenda?
Regarding the last question, it is clear that Vance would like to become a dictator.
From Google: “J.D. Vance has cited the neo-reactionary blogger Curtis Yarvin as an intellectual influence. Yarvin is known for his advocacy of replacing American democracy with an authoritarian, monarchical system.”
The question is can he pull it off? And will he be more or less effective than Trump in his attempts?
