A new human case of avian flu is hospitalized in Washington state. This has now been identified as H5 N5. Which makes it the first known human case of that subtype anywhere. It has previously been circulating in birds in northern Europe, and has killed seals.
H5N1, the more common strain worldwide, has been Decimating seal and sealion populations. As well as poultry.
