Has anyone pushing for the end of healthcare subsidies bothered to think this thru? Hospitals generally have a moral/legal obligation to not turn away patients. As we increase the number of uninsured patients, hospitals will see an increase in unpaid care. Many hospitals (rural ones in particular) are already teetering on the edge of bankruptcy and many more will have to close. So no matter how good your insurance might be, if you are sick or injured in an un(der)served area you might just be ‘out of luck’. Our health care system already ranks near (or at) the bottom of industrialized nations -increasing the number of uninsured will only make matters worse.
