The country is very diverse, with different demographics, issues, and challenges in other states, but former Labor Secretary Robert Reich sees these five ingredients as effective tools in other elections around the country.
- Authenticity.
- Concern for average working people.
- Willingness to take on the powerful and the wealthy.
- Inspiration.
- Cheerfulness.
There’s every reason to believe that some or all of these ingredients spell success. Democrats simply have to have the courage of their convictions to push for bold change; maintaining the status quo will simply not do. The country is ready for it.

A Well-Deserved Honor for Editorial Cartoonist Ann Telnaes
You’ll recall that she quit the Washington Post last year on principle, refusing to kowtow to owner Jeff Bezos and unwilling to conform to the paper’s turn towards MAGA conservatism.
The Post was the newspaper that uncovered the Watergate Scandal, and its reporting led to the resignation of the President of the United States, Richard Nixon, in August 1974.
I live here in Washington, DC — and given the newspaper’s turn towards becoming much more conservative in the Age of Trump — I am positive that former Post owner Katherine Graham and former Managing Editor Ben Bradlee are turning over in their graves.

It's been a ride
As I posted back in May, winning the Pulitzer this year was a complete surprise, coming after the unexpected and overwhelming worldwide response to my quitting the Washington Post. This past week I was in NYC for the ceremonies, 24 years after winning my first.
I had a lovely time but have to admit I’ve been experiencing mixed emotions. While I’m truly grateful for the honor- I will especially cherish the jurors statement- and appreciate all the kind words I received at the ceremony (a Post editor even offered sincere congratulations), I can only push aside the reality temporarily.
Back to work.
