Since I wrote this story about Woodinville and its own Musk, Jeff Lyon, trying to take over the City Council, a lot has happened.
www.dailykos.com/…
Since this happened, Lyon has now put in over $300k to his own campaign in coordination with his own, likely illegally run, PAC. In addition, he put in over $100k for a MAGA adjacent incumbent, Rachel Best-Campbell. Total contributions are likely near or over $500k. All for positions that pay just under $10k per year.
For just around $850 total, I put up signs crisscrossing Woodinville. I had almost 1/3 of them stolen. Others thrown into federally restricted property against the law. Afterwards, I was invited to multiple campaign events by the Woodinville mayor and by most of the city council to encourage others to donate time and money.
I am not sure I believe it, but everyone kept telling me the same thing over and over. I did the one thing they most needed to fight such a well-funded set of candidates. I started conversations across the entire town at the perfect time for people to take action and potentially saved the future of my community of nearly 20 years. My blog here at Daily Kos even got a shoutout in the Seattle Times in the runup to the election.

Don’t ever think that you cannot make a difference in an election. Signs are cheap, only about $4 each. Door knocking is free, just takes time.
Do what you can.
As of the moment of this post, with ¾ of King Country ballots counted, Jeff Lyon and all his cronies have lost. All with around just 30% of the vote.
