Time for us voters to demand that the US House go back to work.
So many DK readers are tired of being Blue Dots in a Red Sea in their state or district.
I hear you.
I live in NC, a purple state gerrymandered to appear red.
I have a job for all of us.
Pick up the phone and call your US House rep, at their DC or local state offices, and remind them that you and other constituents are paying their salary with very cushy benefits.
US House Reps Must Return to Work or Resign
Tell them that you want them to give ALL
of their paid recent multi-week vacation money to Food Banks in your state AND:
- Go back to DC, force Johnson to reopen the US House, and go back to work; OR
- Resign now, since they are refusing to do the job that their voters want them to do.
My US House Rep is MY Rep. They work for me and others in my district.
If I have a co-worker or employee who refuses to come to work and do the job, I consider that job vacated and will push for a new person to be hired to do the job.

Trump’s Little Johnson needs to be forced to reopen the House. If we pester our reps, they will let Johnson know. GOP House reps are already getting calls. Time to amp it up, and call them every single day about this.
If you are like me, you may have a Dem rep who is vastly out numbered by GOPers.
Call them to thank them for standing strong.
Then call the other GOP Reps in YOUR state.
You have the right to speak up for the health & welfare of all residents in YOUR state.
You may speak up for others who may be too young, too old, or too sick to call themselves.
Being a US House Rep is a job that primarily takes place in DC.
It is not a remote work from home job.
Let them know that you and others are watching and tracking their days at home.
Call every day. Mix it up.
Call their DC office and leave a prepared message.
Call their local state office(s) and be ready to speak to a live staff.
No yelling. No cussing.
Be firm, but strong.
- Demand a payment of their paid extended vacation money to your local food banks.
- Demand that they return to work in DC and open the House OR resign.
You are not threatening them personally, but reminding them that they work for you.
If they do not return to work or resign, then let them know you will:
- run for office against them;
- find & fund a Dem to run against them; and/or
- find & fund another R to run against them.
