Though if any of you were dancing in the streets last Tuesday evening, I can’t say I blame you and I hope it was a lot of fun.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

A megaflash over the Midwest in 2017 is officially the longest lightning ever recorded. It beat the distance of the previous record by over 100k and lasted nearly 8 seconds.
From Simply Recipes: Nordstrom’s tomato basil soup. It’s an article, but the recipe is in there, as well as a couple of links to more formal versions.

The zipper has had an upgrade.
From Southern Living: Sweet potato pound cake. Yes, there’s a recipe in there.

I don’t think we should repeal the 19th Amendment because I don’t love women. I think we should repeal the 19th Amendment because I love America and American women and want to protect our nation from their suicidal empathy.

This is a snippet from Thursday’s GNR:
“Tonight, legal scholar John Pfaff wrote: ‘Every race. It’s basically been every race. Governors. Mayors. Long-held [Republican] dog-catchers. School boards. Water boards. Flipped a dungeon master in a rural Iowa D&D club. State senators. State reps. A janitor in Duluth. State justices. Three [Republican] Uber drivers. Just everything.’”
Care to guess at what point I started laughing?

My secondborn is 43 as of last Thursday. I called her to wish her a happy birthday and found that she and her husband had taken my ex to a doctor’s appointment — the test results were very good, he seems to be having an excellent response to the treatment. Since the cancer wasn’t caught till it was fairly advanced, this is better news than you’d ordinarily think.
The complex lost power for about 40 minutes on Friday morning due to an outside repair/installation happening about a block away. They told us it would be about an hour and would happen sometime between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM. It happened between 10:15 and 10:55.
Have I mentioned that disconnecting the bedroom phone jack seems to have pretty much entirely solved my internet problems? My computer still, on much rarer occasions than used to be, doesn’t want to talk to the wifi.
We’re down to see the family today. I’m not sure when I’ll be online.

Love you guys!
