What a week — Electoral victories, and court victories galore! On the congressional side, the House Oversight Committee Democrats held a shadow hearing. They heard testimonies from US citizens who have been detained by ICE. The stories are stuff of nightmares. Formal hearings also took place that provided some made for tv remarks by the republicans testifying. Unfortunately, no deal made regarding the ACA subsidies yet.

A huge night for Democrats:
—They flip Miami's mayorship.
—They flip a state House district in Georgia that had voted Trump by 13%.
—They keep Albuquerque's mayorship, while the liberal faction flips city council.
—And they get big overperformances (+18 & +22) in 2 Florida specials.

We aren’t going to allow Republicans to erode campaign finance protections. Along with the DCCC and DSCC, we’re standing up for the people and fighting for fair elections.

BENNIE THOMPSON: Where is antifa headquartered?
GLASHEEN: ... ... ... we are building out the infrastructure right now
THOMPSON: What does that mean?

This hearing is the one referenced in my intro to the diary. There are lots of clips of it floating around on social media.
I appreciate how Rep. Cleaver didn’t use the word, ‘Congress’ in explaining who needs to do what. Instead he correctly said, “Republicans in Congress...”
