My name is Mona Singh, and I’m running for one of the two at-large seats on the Wake County Board of Commissioners. As Wake County grows rapidly, it’s time to bring a broader diversity of experience and expertise to county leadership.
I’ve spent more than 30 years working in technology, alongside 17+ years as a grassroots volunteer, activist, and organizer. I bring both a head and a heart to public service shaped by my family’s history. In 1947, my mother became a refugee in her own country. Forty years later I came to the United States with a student visa and a dream, experiences that grounded me in the values of resilience, opportunity, and community.
I believe affordable housing is one of the most basic human needs, and that public schools must be fully funded so our entire community can flourish. As Wake County continues to grow, we must ensure that prosperity is shared and that essential public investments keep pace with that growth.
I also understand both the risks and the opportunities presented by AI and emerging technologies, and I believe local government must approach them thoughtfully and responsibly. Wake County is already a great place to live—and with smart, inclusive leadership, we can make sure it grows in ways that work for everyone.
