What happens when a news story is not a story the news media will cover? This goes beyond IOKIYAR, the fact that the press is wired for Republicans.
Where is the scrutiny of Trump’s mental (and physical) health that comes anywhere near what Biden was subjected to, on every verbal slip, stumble, or momentary lapse? If anything there’s a vaster wealth of Trump material to examine. What’s more, there’s more of it every day.
An even bigger question hardly mentioned at all by the media is — who is actually running the country? How much of what is happening turns on Trump being used like a puppet?
Granted he’s a monster, but he doesn’t have the energy, the focus, and the knowledge to perpetrate the cruelties in the detail now being carried out in his name. The press is willing to credit people around Trump — Miller, Vought, Vance et. al. - for instituting these policies, but they are reluctant to ask if Trump is just rubber stamping what gets put in front of him.
Robert Reich has put together a video that looks at all of this. Since the media is reluctant to discuss the orange elephant in the room honestly, Reich urges this video be shared widely.
Who knows? If enough people do so and put it ‘out there’, maybe Cokie’s Law will kick in.
UPDATE: If text is more your preference, Dan Rather has a roundup of so many reasons to question Trump’s physical and mental health. Here’s how it starts:
We need to have a serious conversation about Donald Trump’s health — what we know, and, more importantly, what we don’t know, which is a lot. Just how bad or good is it? We’ve tallied many indications of flagging vitality, just in his second term alone, and by any reasonable analysis he is not a picture of good health, to say the least.
