Brainwrap posted a comment better explaining what he did:
--Yes, I did download a local copy of the entire public-facing CDC.gov site a few days before they started purging it (at least I think so...I did this on 1/27).
--I then worked with someone else to create an index of every web page (HTML) which was at CDC.gov as of 1/27/25
--I then used that to create an index of ~7,200 links to the most recently-archived versions of each page available at the Internet Archive (Wayback Machine) prior to 1/27/25.
In other words, while I do have a local archive of the files (it’s around 15 GB), the links at ACASignups.net go to the appropriate Wayback Machine versions.
There are still some broken links due to the nature of how some URLs work, and the actual data sets themselves (which probably amount to terabytes of data) are beyond me, but those have supposedly been archived by others elsewhere.
In any event, you can find the full archive of links (15 pages, ~7,200 links total) here.
This morning I read the news thinking, “OMG what do we do? What do we do?” And I came across the following story in the comments section of this post on Political Wire:
Before the CDC website was purged of information deemed nasty by the current administration, Daily Kos regular Brainwrap (aka Charles Gaba) downloaded it and posted it at his website acasignups.net
Gotta love Gaba. Way to resist, Brainwrap. Thank you.
