This will be very short, because I’m so incredibly unnerved: Tonight, Orange Non-Genius and Toady Benjamin announced that they support a recovery plan for Gaza the involves the 1.8 million Palestinian population in Gaza leaving their homes permanently (that’s ethnic cleansing and it’s an international war crime), while the US takes control of the land because we are benificent and an exceptional nation (hello, Manifest Destiny) and develop the real estate into what I assume Trump sees as beachfront resort property.
While I’m sure Trump really wants to do this, I’m also sure that he needed a distraction to move the news needle away from the anti-Musk movement that is — finally — welling up across the country.
I’m also sure that the Palestinians have to go somewhere, and I cannot envision where that would be. Greenland maybe (since he thinks we’ll own that, too?
And the potential long-term — America in another “stupid war” in the Middle East. Not exactly what the Maga faithful are looking for.
If he really does this, I cannot see a scenario where it does not result in deaths and more destruction. That is all.
