Donald Trump bemoned the treatment of the white Afrikaners in South Africa on February 2nd, with one of his Truth Social posts.
I did a diary at the time called South African Justice Begins.
Donald was all up in arms about a new law that did not do much besides what was already in the South African constitution. We all suspect that the new law was brought to Trump's attention by South African born Elon Musk.
Now, Trump has done an executive order titled: "Addressing Egregious Actions of the Republic of South Africa."
He hits the new law right off the bat. The Expropriation Act No. 13 of 2024.
"... to enable the government of South Africa to seize ethnic minority Afrikaners' agricultural property without compensation."
"... countless government policies... fueling disproportionate violence against racially disfavored landowners."
Now we get the real justification of why he's going to use an executive order, and get away with it. South Africa was one of the countries that were accusing Israel of genocide to the International Criminal Court.
Just yesterday, I did a diary called Trump attacks the International Criminal Court, explaining how that executive order was about the ICC issuing warrants against Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant last November.
Now he's tying the executive orders together with a deadly version of The Art of the Weave.
Trump accuses South Africa of only blaming Israel for the genocide and not Hamas for the October 7th attack. South Africa didn't need to do so because the International Criminal Court had already issued warrants against Hamas' leaders. He's getting outraged over something that didn't need to happen, because it already had. But, that doesn't matter to Trump. Getting his logic wrong has never stopped him before.
He also accuses South Africa of working with Iran on military, commercial and nuclear projects. Apartheid South Africa built nuclear weapons, but they got rid of them in 1993. There are rumors that South Africa and Iran are working together according to Israeli news sources. I would seriously doubt that, as South Africa has renounced nuclear weapons. I can also not find any military or commercial operations between the two countries.
"The United States cannot support the government of South Africa's commission of right violations in it's country or in undermining United States foreign policy, which poses national security threats to our Nation, our allies, our African partners, and are interests."
"It is the policy of the United States that, as long as South Africa continues these unjust and immoral action practices that harm our nation:
The United States shall not provide Aid or or assistance to South Africa…"
Donald has already forgotten that he's cut off all aid to every country with the shutdown of USAID.
"The United States shall promote the resettlement of Afrikaner refugees escaping government-sponsored, race-based discrimination, including racially discriminatory property confiscation."
Can't take property away from white people, only from Black people. And there is a due process. It's not expropriation without negotiation or compensation, unless there is no other course of avenue. Even then, it's going to be decided in the courts about the law in the first place. You're meddling in where you don't belong.
Then he gets into a long paragraph about how United States assistant for International Development shouldn't give them any money. Again, he's forgotten that he already has done that with the actions of his and Elon Musk's.
"Refugee Resettlement and Other Humanitarian Considerations."
"... including admission and resettlement under the United States Refugee Admissions Program, for Afrikaners in South Africa that are the victims of unjust racial discrimination."
White people get to come in without any conditions, but you throw immigrants into detention and deportation. Oh, that's right, they're not white folk.
It probably doesn't really matter, because the Afrikaners don't want to take up Trump on his offer.
Kallie Kriel, the CEO of the Afrikaner lobby group AfriForum said, "We have to state categorically: We don't want to move elsewhere."
The South African Foreign Ministry added their of the situation.
"It is ironic that the executive order makes provision for refugee status in the U.S. for a group in South Africa that remains amongst the most economically privileged."
"The South African government says that the laws that have been criticized are aimed at the incredibly difficult task of redressing the wrongs of colonialism and then a nearly half century of Apartheid, when blacks were stripped of their land and almost all of their rights."
Trump conveniently forgets the history of South Africa. But, that's okay when it's extremely rich white people being "oppressed." I'm surprised Trump hasn't accused them of making their whole government a DEI haven for the illiterate and undeserving. Blacks are 82% of the population, and whites are 9%. The whites have 70% of the land. That's not fair to the Blacks who had the land originally and had it stolen.
So whites are being oppressed, and South Africa has the gall to support a warrant against Netanyahu for genocide. That's enough for Donald Trump to take action and meddle in another country's affairs.
Can we say, "white makes right?"
