I’m very very sad to note that Rep, Grijalva (D-AZ) has passed away at 77 from complications from his treatment for cancer (he was diagnosed last year).
First elected to Congress in 2002. He served as the chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and, most recently, as the ranking member on Natural Resources before being replaced as ranking member by Rep. Jared Huffman. (D-CA)
He was an incredible environmental champion, being one of the strongest legislative leaders we have on endangered species, protections for our public lands, and tribal interests among other issues, and was also known for his love for Arizona.
Sending love and immense appreciation and gratitude to his loved ones, friends and staff. RIP to an American hero
