Trump calls it: "Improving Educational Outcomes by Empowering Parents, States , and Communities," when he destroys it, instead of improving it.
The executive order everyone predicted is finally here.
He calls the federal funding of public education as an experiment that has now ended.
The money spent on education, especially during the Covid crisis, was just too much for the government to bear. Because the Department of Education has only been around for 50 years, we could do without it. We were working just fine before, right? No, that's why the Department of Education was created. But because it was created in 1979, during Jimmy Carter's presidency, it has to be ended. Jimmy Carter threatened his flag raising and deserves to be removed from the history books.
Once again he calls the Department of Education a bureaucracy. Just because something's a bureaucracy doesn't mean it doesn't provide a function. What about the bureaucracy that DOGE is creating? Soon it will be one of the largest agencies that's not an agency we've ever seen. With police force powers.
And because the Department of Education has a public relations staff that wastes $10 million a year, that's justification for getting rid of the whole department.
Over and over again he calls it a federal education bureaucracy.
Closing the Department of Education will improve higher education. He of course, does not have a clue as to what he's talking about. How does getting rid of education improve it?
Then, of course, he gets to the student loan debt that is born by the government, not the students. If the government was bearing that debt, then it would be paying the loans off. The man is so stupid. With a $1.6 trillion portfolio, it matches a large bank like Wells Fargo, which has 200,000 employees, so the 1500 employees in the Department of Education are worthless. The Department of Education is not a bank, so it must return this function to, guess what, private banks. Students are going to find them so much more friendly with higher interest rates and punishments when they can't pay on time. No loan forgiveness. No public service requirements that are met before canceling out a loan.
Then he gets right to it about saying that federal funds will not go to any institution that discriminates. You know what that means. No help for minorities, because that's discrimination to white people. He says it plainly and labels it diversity, equity, and inclusion.
I have a term for what Trump is doing. I call it WHIDEIO. Pronounced Why-Die-Oh. Should have a question mark after it. It means White Diversity Equity Inclusion Only. And to think, there were people besides white, straight people, that voted for Trump. They must be feeling it now.
At the end he takes a final swipe, but this time it's at gender ideology. As you know, to Trump, if you're not straight, white, male or female, you don't exist. So, therefore, no money will ever be spent on those non-people.
I was expecting him to bring up the policy of school vouchers so the public schools would suffer while private and religious schools got all the money. That's not in this executive order. I think that will be another one when people start asking about what happened to all the money the Department of Education was getting to distribute.
Here's the kicker. The last line is that the Department of Education's function should be returned to the States. Nowhere in the executive order does he say anything about actually giving the states any federal funds. He just says it's the state's problem now.
People voted for this.
