I'm going to offer a simple proposition here.
The Republicans have imposed an all powerful King on a system set up to protect the citizens with multiple checks and balances. The Democrats seem unable to respond. This is because they are working within the previous constitutional system
Look at all other democracies. There are governing parties, there are parties in opposition. But what is different is that in every case, the opposition parties have a leader. This is the single person who puts the view of the opposition in response to the plans and actions of the government Party. They are the alternative King. Look at Turkey, the opposition was about to nominate their candidate for the presidential election of … 2028. A man of such charisma that the neo-king there had to have him arrested.
The Democrats have at this moment no single voice. No single figurehead stands up to voice the alternative narrative about what is happening and none can be expected for three years. We rely on various Democrats turning up on talk shows. Nobody addresses the American people with authority, describes an alternative to each outrage, no-one is taking the piss out of this pompous prick, allowing our King Krasnov a bully pulpit to chant his insanities unopposed. Look at the caption photos here on Kos, all Trump regime gangsters. They are the story.
In his first term, Trump was the ineffectual self obsessed golfer. But this time he is the tool of other forces. And they have a plan. Who is to say there will be a Democratic Party in three years time? Use the process while it still exists.
The Democrats need to being forward their nomination process to now, and bring us a leader. Someone given the full time job of sticking it to the King. Someone whose full time job is to be the alternative monarch. Every time they open their fascist mouths, the leader of the opposition should be there to put a fist in it. For us! They are getting away with it unchallenged! Game of Thrones! Where is our champion?
