One of the replies I often get on my articles is that the Dem Branding is in the shitter. My question is who put it there? Another reply that’s often associated with this comment is that the messaging is bad. Again, I ask what messages have you received from Dem that is bad?
One thing I think people confuse is messaging vs delivery system. And by that I mean, the media, the influencers, social media etc… To me, there’s nothing wrong with dem messages, I do however find that the ones that need to pass that message down to the public are guilty of tanking it. Whether its on purpose or not will be left for another discussion. Stations like TYT are particularly guilty of this tactic. One can disagree with the left’s policies or takes without shitting on the party and tanking the brand.
But the biggest tankers of our brands are voters. As I said yesterday, we latch on to what the right is saying about our messages and we take it for gospel instead of dismantling their takes. We’ve let the republicans set the standards of what is good or bad messaging as if they would ever admit our messages and policies are good.
Let’s take an example, Being woke… today Dems have distanced themselves so much from that name they might be in different universes by now. Why? Because the right was trashing the meaning, so instead of countering their narrative, we’ve embraced it. On the other hand they are walking around with nazi flags and when our leaders call them fascists we flinch (especially the media).
How many “woke” signs were seen at the HandsOff protest? Personally, I did not see one. I’m proud to be woke, my banner on social media is “I’m gonna woke you up” it’s on purpose. I refuse to be shamed for being woke. I refuse to paint myself with the brush of republicans. They are the ones that should feel shame. How is it that we are the ones pulling back?
A brand rest upon its loyal consumers, that’s us folks, not elected officials, not republicans but us. If we keep trashing our own branding we cannot then be surprised that the brand is toxic. Everywhere you turn people are trashing dems, the republicans, the progressives, the leftist, the independents, the only ones standing strong are the base voters.
It’s time for us, to stand proud of our values and policies, it’s time for us to stop trashing our own brand but wear it proudly (where did all the woke merch go?).
