It was made crystal clear in the recent cruel and painful display by our legislators when they scrambled to vote down the renewal of funding for the states program for people with disabilities that a Civics class refresher focusing on their public service role and responsibilities is sorely needed. I can only imagine the worries these families unduly endured.
While the issue was finally resolved and the funding restored I can’t help consider what a positive example of a role model for good leadership could have provided if these legislators had taken the time and effort to carefully listen to and seriously consider the immediate and pressing situation these families over their desire to score a win for their team.
