"I don't want my money spent on other people": The grinch that hurt itself
What the grinch does not realize is that his or her income relies on spending by others. Cut subsidies of housing to people who are working but are underpaid by their employers and don't have enugh income to pay for decent housing and you cut off income to landlords who in turn spend less money. Cut Medicaid to people who can't afford to pay health insurance and you cut off an income stream to doctors and nurses and people who they pay for goods and services.
The simple fact is that there are people working a 50 hour week for $15 an hour with taxes witheld. We had one working for us providing child care ... we were paying $15 for 3pm to 7pm on weekdays... and she worked for another employer 8am to 2pm. And she had two children and then a hysterectomy. And depended on Section 8 housing subsidy of about $700 a month to pay $1,200 a month on a decent two bedroom apartment.
If you are a true Christian you cannot be a grinch. But there are many whited sepulchers who piously proclaim their love of God but would cut support to low income families.
