Bombshell polls out of Texas

The Senate Leadership Fund.. a Republican group that ensures that status quo Republicans are elected to the Senate, dropped the bombshell results of a poll for the 2026 Senate race in Texas.

Paxton is dominating Cornyn in the Republican primary poll leading 56-40, but Paxton is also polling dismally in the general, losing to Allred by one point, whereas Cornyn led by 6 over Allred in the same poll.

I am somewhat torn over this, as Paxton can arguably do less damage in the Senate, because as AG, he can go to Lubbock Texas and file all kinds of crazy lawsuits and win at the district court level, as there is only one completely RWNJ judge in that area, so he knows who will hear his lawsuits. 

But in the Senate, he is just another RWNJ in a caucus that already has a bunch of them, and won’t make much difference as 1 vote out of 100.

But if Paxton loses to Allred in 2026, that would definitely mean that Trump is still influencing the outcome of elections, like he did in Canada, Australia, and various special elections.
