In an interview on “Pod Save America” released on Thursday, O’Rourke said Biden let the country down by paving the way for Donald Trump’s return to power. “Just to be clear, Biden should not have run again,” O’Rourke said. “He failed this country in the most important job that he had. ... And it’s not just you and me, but our kids and grandkids and the generations that follow that might have to pay the price for this.”
I agree completely. I think Joe Biden is a good and decent man and was a good and decent President. But Biden’s goal in life was always to be President. He ran in 1988 and again in 2008, before finally achieving his life’s dream in 2020. And sure, once achieving your life’s dream it’s damn hard to give it up. But as a good and decent President, you must always do what’s best for your country, which was also what was best for the Democratic Party. Because the alternative was what is worst for our country: An insufferable asshole who doesn’t give a shit about the country, he only care about what’s best for himself, and fortifying his inflated ego.
So yeah, most people’s hindsight is 20/20. If Biden had decided early on that one term was enough for his life’s dream, we could have had an open primary, “Where the greatest talent in the Democratic Party can muster could be on that stage and have a competition of ideas and vision and really excite not just Democrats but the people of this country who did want change” Beto continued.
Yeah. So what do we do going forward? While I admire Beto for telling it like it is, we don’t need to beat up on Joe Biden. It’s best to let Joe Biden ride quietly off into the sunset with a proud “Thank you, Joe”, and focus on the exciting new talent we have going forward: Maryland Governor Wes Moore. Congress Persons Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jasmine Crockett, Maxwell Frost, Greg Casar, and several more. And while perhaps not so new and not so young, I’m warming up to Illinois Governor JB Pritzker — who best to fight against asshole Billionaires than a Billionaire who is actually a decent human being?
So, thanks Beto for telling it like it is. Thanks Joe, for being a good and decent man and President. But sorry, you fucked up when we needed you the most. But what is done is done. We Democrats are moving forward with new talent and new visions, and win back the House in 2026, and make inroads in the Republican Senate majority. Oh hell, I wasn’t going to go there, but if Trump fucks things up so bad, god forbid, I think we can win 51 seats in the Senate, so JD can’t screw us: Hold onto GA & MI, and flip IA, OH, ME, and NC.
