There’s a highly recommended recent diary blaming older voters for the rogue Trump regime. Apparently, the diarist thinks older people are in the FO phase and that’s a good thing.
Nonsense.
A post-election survey conducted by Navigator Research demonstrates that the voting group most changed from the 2020 presidential election was young men aged 18 to 44. There was a 16 point swing in this group from Biden in 2020 to Trump in 2024. Young women 18-44 had the second largest swing to Trump
Meanwhile, there was no change in older male (65+) voter behavior as Trump maintained the same edge in this group as in 2020. However, there was a 4 point gain in older female votes for Harris over Trump. Here’s the results chart:
According to the elder bashing diary, “older voters are not a monolith, but a majority of them propelled Trump into the White House again.” Hardly. Older male voting pattern didn’t change while older females went more heavily for Harris.
If anybody should be blamed (and I think the blame game is foolish), it should be young male voters who abandoned the Democratic candidate and went full steam ahead for Trump.
