Auto Memories
We have been fortunate to enjoy Ojibwa’s automobile diaries, for example www.dailykos.com/…, for years. They show cars from several eras of the previous many decades. Seeing those preserved treasures can stimulate memories of one’s own automobiles.
My first car was the 1938 Plymouth I bought in college for $50. I sold it in my senior year…...for $50. That car was built before I was born! Next I had a 1947 Plymouth, followed by a series of Volvos, 7 to be exact. By then we needed two cars, so for a number of years I drove my 1946 Chevy van,
We tried a VW Diesel, a disaster. Then a Honda Civic. We finally bought a Prius. This was around the time they became so popular around here it seemed like every third car was a Prius. This car met an unfortunate end, but we Immediately bought another which we still have. I saw that the future would include EVs, so I toyed with the Tesla idea, but armed with Biden’s $7,500 tax incentive I bought a Chevy Bolt, which is my favorite car ever. It drives well, is super fast, and I can charge it at home. California has the highest gas prices in the country. Electric rates as well, but I still save a lot.
Do y’all remember your first car? Price? Or was it a gift? What was your best car? Worst car? Dream car? Did you ever have a convertible? Happy memories, I hope.
A friend mentioned a young group she had heard. There’s a YouTube. So much energy.
Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share a virtual kitchen table with other readers of Daily Kos who aren’t throwing pies at one another. Drop by to talk about music, your weather, your garden, or what you cooked for supper…. Newcomers may notice that many who post in this series already know one another to some degree, but we welcome guests at our kitchen table and hope to make some new friends as well.
