As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Greetings my friends. Welcome to another Saturday. I hope that your week has been a good one, and I am so grateful to all of you for coming to check in with me.
I am sad to say that not so long ago, my beloved , Star Trek inspired flip phone died, and not in the way that most insisted it would. I kept being told that the hinge that gave it its flip feature, would be what failed and made me regret purchasing it, but no, what happened is that the case I used failed, it came off the phone in a fall, and thus the phone broke. So after five years of loyal service, I have retired my flip phone, and upgraded to a Pixel 9, So in one move, I changed phones, and ecosystems. Still android of course, but Google is so far different from my any of the Samsung phones that I have had over the last several decades that it presents a significant learning curve.
So far, I have learned to switch to dark mode. I have changed ring and text tones. I have enlarged and changed the default fonts, found a bit of software to turn the inbuilt camera int a magnifier, and learned to use the AI Assistant, Gemini, to read some of my messages as well as to make calls/
If any of you have tips that will make this new phone more useful to me, I would love to hear them.
