Stephen Miller is in the news because he's the deputy chief of staff for policy for Trump. There is no boss chief of staff for for policy, there's just Susie Wiles. There are a group of deputy chiefs of staff. Miller is the most important and you see him standing to the side of Trump at the desk in the Oval Office often. He's the architect of Trump's most heinous crimes. Wikipedia has a picture of him smiling. Somebody needs to edit that to something more realistic.
Miller has been the lead in making a big deal about the protests in LA. He should have been keeping track of his wife, Katie. She was a top spokesperson and advisor for DOGE. Musk has left DOGE and going back to work on his companies and she's going with him.
There were rumors that Musk's black eye that showed up at the goodbye news conference with Trump was actually given to him by Miller, not Musk's 5 year old. Would make a lot more sense than Musk telling his kid to hit him in the face.
The disagreement between Donald Trump and Elon Musk was not a secret when Elon Musk walked out of the White House, but after their public fallout, the Millers are the most affected people. Elon Musk unfollowed Stephen Miller while Katie Miller is not issuing any public statements.
While working with Musk while he was running DOGE, Katie overreached and issued instructions on Musk's behalf. She was also a special government employee and did not have walk-in privileges in the West Wing. But she was always walking in and out of offices as she had done in the first administration.
So an email was sent out by Stephen's department reminding staff not to do so, with the target being Katie.
When the Trump-Musk feud became intense, both Miller's tried to lower the temperature. New crises in the news, like the LA protests, have taken over the news cycle. The story isn't finished. The posts about the Epstein files have disappeared from Musk's X account. The first one he posted now brings up "Nothing to see here."
This isn't the first time they've been torn between two bosses. Katie continued working for Mike Pence while Stephen continued working for Trump when they had a split. This time it was Katie leaving Stephen for Elon Musk.
The White House felt, according to WSJ reporting, that Katie did not do enough to have Musk work with agencies.
While working at DOGE, Katie also worked at P2 Public Affairs, a Republican consulting firm, and arranged client meetings at the White House. When this arrangement was reported, she quit P2 Public Affairs.
When asked, the White House didn't respond if Stephen Miller was leaving along with Katie.
Next to Susie Wiles, Trump depends on Stephen Miller most. A White House official said Trump and his top brass were sure his wife working for Musk had nothing to do with the current state of events.
The Millers and Musk have even been talked about as a throuple. "Congratulations to Katie Miller for being literally the only woman in the world for whom joining Elon Musk's harem would be a step up," said James Palmer, deputy editor of Foreign Policy.
Others also noticed.
Then there was another startling post.
Then there's the story of Katie's lip tattoo. Inside her lip is tattooed "YOLO" which stands for "You Only Live Once." It could just as easily mean "you only love once," but the accepted version is with "live." Vanity Fair also mentioned it in 2020.
So, where do the Millers go from here? Katie is in Texas. Stephen is in the White House. Long distance relationships are hard to keep up. Right now it looks like Katie has left and there could be a separation announced soon. Katie could have worked for any number of companies in Washington, D.C. if she wanted to. It doesn't look like she wanted to.
She must realize how many relationships Musk has had with a dozen children on hand. She's going in with her eyes wide open. She's no dummy.
So far, no reporter has quizzed Stephen about his personal life since Katie left. They're too busy adding his bile in with Trump's about immigration and now the LA protests.
On Sunday, Musk had to correct his own chatbot, Grok, for verifying a false post that had Musk looking like he was saying to Stephen, "I took your wife."
When asked by a user about the post, Grok replied that "it likely existed and was deleted. It's deletion means direct verification is unavailable. ...the evidence leans toward the post being real but removed, consistent with Musk's pattern of deleting controversial posts."
Musk responded some with exasperation to his own chatbot, underscoring that the post was fake.
There's multiple breakups here all interrelated. Musk and Trump. Stephen and Trump. Stephen and Katie and Musk. Stephen and Katie. Musk and Katie.
Spin that wheel of fortune for the next episode.
